Privacy policy

Olingua respects your privacy. This page explains what data we process, why, and what your rights are.

Who we are

Olingua is an online language centre for Arabic, Polish and Dutch. For privacy questions, email info@olingua.nl.

What data we process

  • Contact form and email: your name, email address, optionally your phone number, and what you tell us about the language, your level and your message. We only use this to answer your question and, if you start lessons, to schedule them.
  • Lessons: if you take lessons, we keep your contact details, scheduled lessons, your progress and the details needed for invoices.
  • Visiting the website: the website uses no cookies and no analytics or advertising services, and loads nothing from third parties. The hosting provider records technical data, such as your IP address and the page requested, to keep the website secure and available.

Legal basis

  • To answer your question and teach you: performing (or preparing) a contract with you (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • To secure the website: our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • For accounting: a legal obligation (Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).

How long we keep data

  • Questions sent through the contact form: up to one year after our last contact, unless you start lessons.
  • Student data: for as long as you take lessons, and up to two years afterwards.
  • Invoices and payments: seven years, as required by tax law.
  • Technical logs: no longer than needed to keep the website secure.

Who can see your data

We never sell your data or share it for marketing. We use Microsoft Azure to host the website and forward contact form messages, and Microsoft 365 for email, with data stored in the European Union. For online lessons we use a video service such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. Lessons are never recorded without your consent.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or delete your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. Email info@olingua.nl to exercise these rights. You can also lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or the supervisory authority in your own country.

Cookies

This website does not use cookies. Your choice of a light or dark colour scheme is stored only in your own browser. Only the website's admin area, used by Olingua itself, sets a strictly necessary cookie when signing in.
