Frequently asked questions

Can't find your question? Feel free to get in touch.

Do I need any prior knowledge?

No. Every course starts at A0, for those starting from scratch. If you already know some of the language, we'll determine your level in the introductory lesson.

How do the online lessons work?

Lessons take place by video call, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet. You need a computer or tablet with a camera and microphone, and a stable internet connection.

In which language are things explained?

Explanations are possible in English, Dutch, Polish or Arabic. In the Dutch course, explanations are in Polish or Arabic.

Will I learn standard Arabic or a dialect?

You learn Modern Standard Arabic (fusha): the language of media, literature and official communication, understood throughout the Arab world. It's also the best foundation for learning a dialect later.

How long does it take to reach a level?

That depends on the language, your pace and how much you practise between lessons. In the introductory lesson we draw up a realistic plan for your goals.

Are materials included?

Yes. You receive all materials digitally: texts, exercises, vocabulary lists and audio. You don't need to buy any books.

Can I reschedule a lesson?

You can reschedule or cancel a one-to-one lesson free of charge up to 24 hours in advance. Later cancellations are charged.

Will I get a certificate?

When you complete a level, you receive an Olingua certificate. It's a school certificate, not an official examination. We're happy to help you prepare for an official exam.

Do you teach companies too?

Yes. For companies and organisations we put together a tailored programme, one-to-one or in groups. Get in touch to discuss the options.

From what age can I take lessons?

Lessons are designed for adults and young people aged 16 and over.
